At the onset of early autumn, the mysterious and charming spider lily has bloomed! In China's Hangzhou Botanical Garden, the colourful spider lilies are blooming, creating a scene reminiscent of Monet's gardens, becoming a dazzling sight in autumn!
The spider lily is widely known for its characteristic of "blooming without leaves and leaves growing without flowers", which has been widely used in fantasy-themed films and television dramas.
In fact, the real name of this flower is "Liriope Flower" (石蒜花), which is a perennial herbaceous ornamental plant, and its blooming period is from late August to mid-September.
Hangzhou Botanical Garden is one of the best places to see these stunning Liriope flowers. The garden has planted over 1.1 million bulbs of liriope, with over 20 varieties, and has the only liriope resource bank in the country.
Every year, when summer turns into autumn, if you enter Hangzhou Botanical Garden from the south gate, you will encounter the vibrant sea of spider lily.
Aside from the red spider lily we often see in films and dramas, real Liriope flowers also come in pink, white, purple, and orange. These colourful flowers are like little stars scattered across the field, which are even more enchanting in the sunshine.
