On December 8, 2018, China's Chang'e-4 (嫦娥4號) spacecraft was launched into space.
Chang'e-4 is the fourth lunar probe satellite in China's lunar exploration programme, Chang'e series.
Its main mission is to continue more in-depth and comprehensive scientific exploration of the Moon's geology, resources, and other aspects, and to improve the archive data of the Moon.
Consisting of a lander and lunar rover, Chang'e-4 carries scientific payloads from countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and Saudi Arabia.
It has conducted landing and inspection exploration of the South Pole–Aitken basin on the far side of the Moon, and achieved the first soft landing and patrol survey on the far side of the Moon.
