Beyond an engineering triumph, it's an epicentre for extreme sports, stunning sightseeing, and rich culture. We're revealing the top 4 ways to experience it, plus nearby gems.
Buckle up for your ultimate cloud-high adventure!
Take sightseeing lift and walk on glass walkway for panoramic view
As the world's highest bridge, the deck of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou is 625 metres above the water surface, with a main span of 1,420 metres. Towering over the "Earth's Crack", it is particularly breathtaking.
To experience the thrill of being over 600 metres up, you can take the fully transparent sightseeing lift from the visitor service centre of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge Tourist Area to ascend to the viewing platform, which is about 17 storeys high.
This is a glass sightseeing walkway running through the interior of the bridge, with green steel forming various geometric patterns.
As you walk along it, the 625-metre-deep scenery of the Huajiang Grand Canyon unfolds slowly beneath your feet, with villages scattered about, and the Beipan River (北盤江) winding like a thin ribbon at the bottom of the deep canyon...
Looking at this magnificent natural panorama before you, it is believed that the fear born from the height will instantly dissipate.
625-metre high-altitude bungee jumping
If you find just walking on the glass walkway not thrilling enough, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge also offers heart-pounding extreme sports experiences.
The most eye-catching of these must be the high-altitude bungee jump with a drop of nearly 625 metres, making it one of the highest bungee jumping spots in the world.
Besides bungee jumping, the bridge also operates a variety of thrilling activities. You can choose to experience the weightless sensation of a giant swing, or feel the exhilaration of racing against the wind on the speed runway.
Or, challenge yourself on the "Heart-Stopping Steps" suspended walkway. It is composed of alternating wooden planks and glass, where every step is taken at the top of the canyon with an abyss hundreds of metres deep directly below your feet. The thrill is absolutely no less than bungee jumping!
These activities were integrated into the bridge's design from the very beginning, making the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge not just a transport facility connecting both sides of the canyon, but also an aerial extreme sports park.

Ascend to the top of the bridge
For those who are not fond of thrills, you can also have another kind of high-altitude experience on the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, which is to have coffee at the cloud café atop the bridge pylon.
The café is located over 800 metres in the air. Here, you can savour rich coffee while overlooking the entire scenery of the Huajiang Grand Canyon through the glass curtain wall.
The magnificent landscape intertwines with the mellow aroma in your hand, definitely providing a dual enjoyment for both sight and taste.
When night falls, another visual feast at the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge begins: the water screen light show.
This performance utilises the bridge's own structure to form a giant water screen, onto which laser patterns and text are projected.
The water screen light show integrates various technologies such as water jets, lighting, lasers, and projections to present a perfect audio-visual effect, forming a water-screen canvas 620 metres wide and 300 metres high that lights up the night sky in a stunning display.
Explore the culture and nature of Huajiang Grand Canyon
After fully taking in the breathtaking Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, why not visit the surrounding attractions under the bridge, from the historical heritage of an ancient Bouyei (布依族) village to the natural scenery of a mountain campsite, to experience the diverse local customs of Guizhou.
Located on the south bank of the Zhenfeng section (貞豐段) of the Beipan River, Xiaohuajiang Village (小花江村) is a historic Bouyei village. Here, you can see traditional Bouyei stilt houses and experience traditional customs.
In addition, the Huajiang Iron Chain Bridge, cliffside rock carvings, and the ruins of the Ancient Tea Horse Road next to the village create a dialogue across time and space with the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, making it a must-visit route for exploring the past and present.
For tourists who prefer outdoor activities, Wangyunling Campsite (望雲嶺營地) is a choice not to be missed. This is the starting point of the recent World's Highest Bridge Huajiang Grand Canyon Hiking and Crossing Race.
From here, you can have a distant view of the magnificent bridge and experience the joy of mountain sports!
