There's a new library in Guangzhou, and it's the Lighthouse Library on the Nansha waterfront, the first of its kind in Guangzhou!
This lighthouse library has a lot of highlights, not only the design is out of the ordinary and there are paintings by famous artists, it's also a smart library, and it's free to visit.

The first lighthouse library ever in Guangzhou
In the scenic street of Nansha Bay Shiao, near the Nansha Yacht Club, there lies a quaint stone house that looks very much like an old lighthouse.
This is the newly opened "Lighthouse Library," which was opened in March this year. It is a new branch of the Nansha District Library and is the first lighthouse library ever in Guangzhou.
The Lighthouse Library is not big, covering only 367 square meters, the size just around an international basketball court. However, it has many highlights and soon become a popular spot in Nansha.

The Lighthouse Library is divided into two main areas, one is the vertical collection area in the lighthouse section, and the other is the flat reading area on the ground level.
The Lighthouse Library stands five stories high which looks like a castle
The vertical book storage area in the lighthouse section is five stories high tower, with a total length of 15 meters, featuring a prial staircase. The building is decorated in yellow and black tones, look like a castle.
It houses more than 7,000 books in fields such as the Maritime Silk Road history and culture, marine science, and foreign history and literature.
Going up the staircase, you will see the reminiscent of the magic room in Harry Potter.
From bottom to top, the walls and ceilings of each level display hand-painted scenes of modern port trade, including the port of Macao in the 19th century, the scenery of Humen, Huangpu port merchant ships, and the Guangzhou Thirteen Factories merchant ships, telling the prosperous trade history of the Guangzhou Maritime Silk Road in the past.
When going up the top floor, you will see a ceiling showcases a hand-drawn depiction of Van Gogh's famous painting "Starry Night" and some colorful stained-glass windows, which are stunning.

Ground floor features a church-style pointed roof
The ground level reading area also has its distinctive features. It mainly uses a red and white color scheme, with a church-style pointed ceiling.
There are five floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a spacious environment, exuding modern romantic vibes. The book wall here reaching 3.5 meters, with red iron bookshelves holding over 3,000 books, including literature, art, history, geography, children's picture books, and more.
In front of the red book wall is an open space that can accommodate over a hundred people.
It is the place for hosting various themed lectures, making the Lighthouse Library a space for knowledge sharing.
Face recognition borrowing system and nice coffee corner
The Lighthouse Library is also a smart library, equipped with self-service borrowing machines, providing residents with smart services like smart information query services, face recognition borrowing, and returning.
The borrowing system is connected with the Guangzhou public library service system, making borrowing and returning books extremely convenient.
There is also a coffee corner on the floor, where readers can read a book with a cup of coffee sitting by the window facing the sea for a relaxing reading moment.
The Shi'ao Street in Nansha Bay, where the Lighthouse Library is situated, is a European-style scenic area and a famous tourist spot in the Greater Bay Area.
The Nansha Yacht Club is currently the largest yacht club in South China, with the most berths and the best facilities of all. When the mood strikes, borrow a book and sail out to sea, reading by the water, and it is surely a way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a moment of time.
