Lang Ping appointed head coach of Chinese women's volleyball team

On February 12, 1995, Lang Ping (郎平), known as the "Iron Hammer" and one of the "Three Main Spikers" in the world of women's volleyball in the 1980s, was appointed head coach of the Chinese women's volleyball team.

This was Lang Ping's first time leading the Chinese women's volleyball team, and in the same year, she led them to a third-place finish in the Women's Volleyball World Cup.

Subsequently, in 1996, Lang led the team to compete in the Olympics for the first time, successfully winning a silver medal for the Chinese women's volleyball team in Atlanta.

The following year, Lang Ping won her first major championship while in office with the national team, leading the Chinese women's volleyball team to victory in the 9th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship.

Considering it was her first time coaching the Chinese women's volleyball team, the results achieved by Lang Ping were already quite impressive.

She then left the team to coach elsewhere, until April 25, 2013, when Lang Ping took up the helm of the Chinese women's volleyball team once again.

Under her leadership, the team won the Women's Volleyball World Cup in 2015, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and the 2019 Women's Volleyball World Cup.
