Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has been opened for its traffic!
A photographer has shuttled around the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link construction site for six years. From just a few piles onwards, the photographer has been starting to capture people and things there, witnessing the birth of this century's project. Let's look at these highlights!
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link starts at Hezhou Interchange in Shenzhen Baoan District in the east and ends at Hengmen Hub in Zhongshan in the west.
The total length is approximately 24 kilometers, with 8 lanes in both directions. It encompasses "bridge, island, tunnel, underwater interchange" and is one of the most complicated crossing in the world.
This "colossal sea dragon" does not merely a kind of transportation, its meandering and beautiful posture has already been an international landmark.

Over the six years, Li Xinwang, a photographer who used Yakexi as nickname on the web, has been taking photographs of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link since 2019.
He made Shenzhen-Zhongshan link a record using camera and drone. Our China Story is authorized to present his great works. Between, we highlight some of the major milestones, trying to figure out how the birth of this super project.
In 2015, the preliminary works of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link Shenzhen Airport Interchange was officially launched.
In December 2016, construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link's west artificial island began.
In April 2018, bridge construction began. In June, submarine tunnel construction started. In September, drilling for the first stake of the Zhongshan Bridge began.
In 2019, the outline of the bridge began to emerge.
In May 2020, the works for the bridge's main foundation was in full swing.
In January 2021, the E7 pipe section of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was successfully docked, the Immersed tube tunnel section has got a milestone of over one thousand of kilometers.
Moreover, the construction of the western anchor bottom plates of the Lingdingyang Bridge was completed. On September 21, the main tower of Zhongshan Bridge reached its planned height.
In June 2022, the Zhongshan Bridge section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was successfully connected, and the Immersed tube tunnel section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan link completed.
In August, all immersed tubes for the tunnels were all prefabricated.
In January 2023, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link began works on the surface of the bridge.
In April, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link Lingdingyang Bridge section was connected.
In November, the tunnel section was completed. The main line of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was entirely connected.
In March 2024, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link pavement construction works entered into final stage.
In April, the load test for the bridge completed.
In May, the asphalt pavement works of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link completed.
In June, the name of "Lingdingyang" of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was officially renamed as "Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge", and passed the completion inspection.
